Spring brings musimagicians Mason Rack Band home to SE Qld. These indie troubadours just smashed Canada summer festivals, obliterated wayward outpost pubs, and finally abandoned their tattooed van - asking anyone and everyone to write inside on the ceiling! Last year they killed two vans on tour - now they write poetry on it, ha.
Their graffiti-mobile took its’ tatts to 34 shows in 7 weeks across Canada, crisscrossing 6 states and scaring the heck out of innocent bystanders. The windscreen wiper was one of the band hanging out the window with a squeegee so they all prayed for fine weather! The stuff you do to stay insane on the road.
All the while Mason Rack Band poured out alt-rock tunes influenced by blues, southern stomp, swamp, rock and roots music. A collection of rock/blues/roots with flashes of Tom Waits and Hendrix, melting towards Ben Harper, with screaming slide guitar, big bass, big drums, big interactive trio percussion feature duel - kaleidoscope of music and a feast for the eyes. Canada didn’t stand a chance with our Aussie Rack pack.
Now it’s time to Rack n roll - surfs up and the drums are rolling! Mason’s Canadian drummer Joel has been coaxed back here again, missing our laid back beaches and the bush - it ain’t like home but even more fun. With only one day to blitz through jetlag, the band is gigging again. Swanky chalet St Bernards at Mt Tamborine on Friday scores Mason’s first home show, then Goldie’s Hotel CBD on Saturday and then Sunday down to Ivory Tavern at Tweed for Father’s day - bring ya kids - Mason is a proud dad missing his little one so welcome them back.
Catch a show before they go, again. The gigs are stretching further afield as interstate fans demand our Mason Rack Band.
