The Hook Up

Q Music is proud to present a new series of networking events at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts in March/April called The Hook Up. These events are designed to help you get up close and personal with the people at the centre of the Brisbane music industry. Come along and meet your local movers and shakers including producers, engineers, record labels, booking agents, managers, designers, photographers, accountants and more. All events are free to attend but online bookings are essential.

 

Artstart Grant Opens

The ArtStart program has been created to give financial assistance to recent arts graduates, helping them make the transition from studying to having a professional career in the arts. An ArtStart grant can provide up to $10,000 to fund services, resources, skills development and/or equipment. Applications are open with the deadline for round one closing on Mar 2. Hilltop Hoods Initiative

The Hilltop Hoods Initiative is a $10,000 grant funded by Hilltop Hoods and APRA to help emerging Australian hip hop artists to manufacture, market and release an album. The successful applicant will also receive legal advice, a Shure microphone pack and be invited to showcase at Song Summit. Applications are open until Feb 28 through www.apra-amcos.com.au.

 

Nashville Songwriter Residency

The Australia Council have announced the pilot Nashville Songwriter Residency, inviting Australian songwriters to apply for a three-month residency in Nashville under the guidance of Australian producer and songwriter Mark Moffatt. The initiative will provide funding of $15,000 towards flights, accommodation and living expenses. Applications are open until Mar 12 through www.australiacouncil.gov.au.
