The Gold Coast Arts Centre warms up this Thursday, with two of the Coast’s finest exports, Anarchist Duck and Colourfide, teaming up with David Flower, for a night of funk, roots, reggae and soul in The Basement (NOV 25, 7:30pm). It will be Anarchist Duck’s only Gold Coast show for a few months as they have slipped into the recording studio, prior to a two-month national tour alongside the bass player’s solo project, Julia Rose. The Ducks have had a huge year, touring to Melbourne and Canberra and then playing a residency at Perisher with fellow Golden Coasters Hussy Hicks, followed by a double show at The Island Vibe reggae festival at the end of October and a string of shows organized with the Gold Coast City Council’s A-venue program. “We are really excited to play at the Basement again,” guitarist Flawless explains. “The venue is beautiful to play in and Colourfide have a similar upbeat funky feel to us. We will be able to create a whole other world in there on Thursday.” Jules and Flawless Duck are currently enriching the atmospheres of cafes in Palm Beach and Miami regularly with their solo projects, Felicity Lawless and Julia Rose. Invite in the holiday season with a once-only concert for the soul this Thursday at The Basement. ###
