We are not Rolling Stone nor are we Pitchfork... We are Four Triple Zed and we love The Flaming Lips! In light of the announcement of The Flaming Lips returning to Australia as apart of the inaugural Harvest festival. We here at 4ZZZ radio want to celebrate their return to our country in true Flaming Lips style and do something that has never been done before.
We want to be the first radio station in the cosmos to broadcast their infamous 4cd album (which requires all 4cds to be played simultaneously on four different cd players) Zaireeka in Full! using all 4cds in honour of the first wiff of it's inception 15 years ago.
Naturally, as this album is a piece of art. We would like the artist to come in and help us deliver their art as intended. We are gunning for them to come in following their performance at Harvest festival in Brisbane (Sat Nov 19) to help us play it during the now infamous Grave Architecture Saturday night/Sunday Morning radio show.
How we do this is up to The Flaming Lips entirely! We want to open the lines of communication between the band and the station to create the impossible! We have a boat load of different ideas! Perhaps the use of multiple radios playing simultaneously to hear the album properly or maybe a revitalisation of the infamous boombox experiments in the Zed car park or something completely different that will baffle future generations!
Four Triple Zed 102.1 FM is a community station in Brisbane Australia that relies on hard working volunteers and generous subscribers to stay alive. We have been around through the good times and the bad for a staggering 36 years! We play just about anything from glitch to country and have a number of shows that deal with a variety of community and social issues. We even have our own fishing show!
That’s why we want the band that have helped define our station since their inception. A band that is unique like us and isn't afraid to try something new. This petition and idea that was set up by a fan for the fans to get an incite into the amazing world of the lips.
Help us show Wayne, Michael, Steven, Kliph and Derek how much we love them here in Australia by signing the petition and helping our cause. We will keep regular updates through our station and for those who sign we will be drawing some very special prizes! (Details will be available closer to the date).
