Epic Danish rock twisted and remixed
On the back of last year’s debut LP – Heresy & Rite – Danish spectral rockers Salli Lunn return with a remix album. Five of the seven tracks on A Frame Of Reference are largely instrumental reworkings from the quartet’s last release, while White Sight and 50 Kisses (the latter remixed by TV Baby) are previously unreleased. It opens with Scott Solter’s neo-industrial reimagining of Mirror Girl, the vocal line contorted to the point where it adds to the vaguely menacing atmosphere of grinding bass beats. City Of Satellites scales the epic Fast Cars Clean Bodies, stripping back and levelling out in the process. Meanwhile, Hidden Shoal label-mate Markus Mehr appears with his
barrelling guitar-focused interpretation of Parachutes Forever. This is another bold and inventive release from the band, well worth a visit for fans of the last LP and just as good a starting point for the uninitiated and curious.
