Melbourne indie-electronica: I love you but... One Night Alone is the debut LP from Melbourne indie-electronic outfit Winterpark. The record sounds like a collaboration between The Postal Service, Múm and The Boards Of Canada which – you might agree – is totally awesome, though I don't feel that the songwriting quite matches the standard of the former two artists. Matt Ridgway certainly isn't lacking as a songwriter, but never was I ambushed by strokes of genius and totally overwhelmed by the music. The sound isn't original either, for despite being hard to classify, it is quite easy to hear references to certain songs, to specific sounds and that ubiquitous Icelandic vibe. Don't misunderstand me, I love these things, but they invalidate the music somewhat. Unless you're au fait with the genre(s), I'd start with Múm; they're actually from Iceland. JAKEB SMITH
