The Rev     Sun May 21

Violent Soho have these tingly guitar explosions embedded throughout their set that give the cleaned up grunge sound an edge, but if their lead singer didn’t sound so much like Craig Nicholls their ambitious songs might not come across so tired.

The Electric Eel Shock drummer charges the stage with a cock sock on, frantically bashing the symbols with the trousers in his hand, this is not the strangest part of their set. The Japanese three piece bombard us with a wall of riffs, both their own and classic tributes, all the while hitting themselves in the head with their guitars, bossing the audience into giving an inhuman amount of rock horns and screaming “rock and roll!”enough times to keep any Guitar Wolf fan happy.

Like the trailer park version of ABBA, Nashville Pussy are all leather pants and enough pussy puns to drown in. Their frantic white trash rock is assaulting in the best of ways as the lead guitarist Ruyter mesmerises the crowd with her axing guitar and wild hair. They’re every bit sex and drugs and rock & roll, straddling both sides of good/bad taste and managing to come out on top. Pussy rock has never been this hardcore or enjoyable.
