(One World Music) Music made for the word 'chillax’ This compilation contains what one calls 'chill-out music.' In other words, the order of the day is slow-paced electronica, as if Moby forgot to drink his coffee. [That’s not caffeine – Ed.] The thirteen compiled tracks are certainly relaxing and make for reasonable background music if you're doing some yoga or something. The selected songs are cohesive enough to make you forget you're listening to thirteen different artists. Audio Shaman's Café Beluga descends into watery depths of shimmering electronica and piano, samples and flamenco guitar filling in the gaps. Drift by Amanaska Fields offers a dense layering of beats and exotic vocals, plus some eternally welcome bongos. Walk On The Wild Side by DJ Disse closes the affair nicely with a mixture of tribal and electronic beats, a vocal sample sharing space with airy saxophone and winding down as coolly and calmly as it began. As an album, Elysian Vibes 4 is serene, but vacuous, like an aquarium with no fish. MICHAEL PINCOTT
