Gory death never felt so good

Good lord. If every demo that came out of the Brisbane heavy metal underground sounded like this one, there would be no reason for albums or EPs. Following up from their exceedingly well received Armoured Assassin single, Brisbane’s finest death-doom metal rockers have underlined their notable live supremacy (witnessed regularly on the low-set stage of local heavy place-to-be, Club Phoenix) with a charitably well captured selection of rasping doom and gloom, with just a hint of mid-90s styled post-grind Napalm Death. Crowd favourite The Doomsayer sadly misses out on the studio treatment, but cracking doomy rock meets guttural death tracks like Hunting Humans and They Eat Their Wounded (with its risibly catchy sing-along chorus) more than make up for this omission. What can I say: this is some of the best – and amazingly, what with its diurnal heaviness – catchiest heavy metal (extreme or otherwise) coming out of Brisbane right now. Make sure you get in quick, ‘cause there ain’t no feeling quite like hanging ten at the crest of a thick, murky, solid wave like the one these guys present.
