Melody and screaming

After the Reign utilize the melodic vocal technique that bands in the vein of The Butterfly Effect have used before them. They add a dash of heaviness by coupling the low pitched, melodious vocals with screaming. The song titles reflect the ‘dark’ lyrical content. For example, Drown the Day and Taste Your Blood. The words often carry a theme of disempowerment, both from the perspective of the narrator (Feeling helpless again) and of the person he sings about. (I know you’re hurting). The fourth song in, The Chance, is a stripped back number, with very little screaming, and demonstrates a lighter sound to the group. This track being the exception to the rule, however, all of the songs here follow a similar pattern to one another. This won’t appeal to everyone, and definitely isn’t astonishingly original, but there will be those who will enjoy it.
