(Dust Devil Music)
Power infused pop rock, stirred not shaken No they weren’t playing a highly extended game of hide ‘n’ seek. Although you could be forgiven for thinking that considering the last release from these Melbourne boys was a best of. But no, this four piece were busy making babies, pursuing solo projects and generally having lives outside of music – I hear ya, how dare they? This latest, their sixth album, is brimming with extremely listenable and quite catchy tracks that may finally see this band pushed into the spotlight where, as this release proves, they belong. Most songs are highly guitar driven with the occasional piano/keyboard takeover and tracks including Come Along and Anyway feature some of the finest vocal harmonies this side of the Wilson Brothers. Highly relatable lyrics abound but sometimes lack the depth to push these guys to the upper echelons of memorable lyrical content. Nonetheless the beautiful melodies and thoughtful arrangements will have you coming back again and again. LEE HUTCHINSON
