TRIBUTE TO JOHNNY CASH AT THE TROUBADOUR PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 05 September 2007

Robot International proudly presents the fourth annual Tribute to Johnny Cash.

This very special evening is being held on Friday October 5, 2007 at The Troubadour in Fortitude Valley.

Five Decade Career
Johnny Cash created his own musical style that lasted for fifty years. From his sparse singles recorded during the birth of rock’n’roll in 1955, to his multi-million-selling prison recordings of the late 1960s, his television series in the 1970s and his spine tingling final albums in the 1990s, Johnny Cash remained a unique and unshakeable force in country music. His baritone voice, sparse arrangements and imposing presence set him apart from other country artists and made him a favourite amongst audiences.

Chart Topper
Johnny Cash passed away in September 2003 at the age of 71, but even in death, his music remains in the charts. This week’s ARIA chart has three Johnny Cash releases, with one such release hovering in the charts for no less than 147 weeks. Cash’s posthumous popularity would be due in part to the bio-pic ‘Walk The Line’, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon.

Annual Tributes
The annual Johnny Cash Tributes are hosted by DJ and GreazeFest director, Lori Lee Cash, herself a long time fan of the Man in Black. Bands gathering to pay tribute will be The Ten Fours, Duke Wilde & The Shotgun Hillbillies, Pat Capocci’s Barnyard Ramblers and special guests.
