Don’t get distracted... Though unheard of in this fine state, Melbourne rock quartet Young Husband have been turning heads down south in recent months, culminating in the release of Motorcade, their first EP. Songwriting duties are handled by guitarist Ben Bunting and singer Keesan Rubens, who have produced five tracks totaling less than fifteen minutes. Though perhaps their well of ideas has already run dry, the tracks on offer are all equally short, strong and to the point. Pretty Girls is the EP’s first single, and also the most immediately likable track. Bunting’s electric riffs are on par with Rubens’ strong vocal delivery: girls, pick up this disc if you need inspiration to front a rock group. A visit to their MySpace reveals that, for better or worse, Rubens features prominently as the band’s sole image. Her looks shouldn’t distract from what is an otherwise promising rock group.
