Halloween at the Zoo! PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 12 October 2007

Trick or treat!! Get ready to frock up and freak out at the Zoo's huge Halloween party featuring three of Brisbane’s finest local bands, DeadStock Circa, The Internalists, and Sugartown. There'll be lots of ghoulish delights, candy and awesome prizes for all the boys and girls who come in costume.

Kicking off the night will be Sue, Jane and Doma from Sugartown - an all girl, harmonic, country/folk/blues ensemble of sorts. To label this band would be a difficult task, their songs are as varied as their hair colour. Songs of such sweet sorrow, contrasted by toe tapping barn diddy knee slappers, followed by wailin' blues numbers. You'll be picking the straw outta your hair days after!

Next up catch The Internalists, fast becoming a Brisbane favourite. Anyone who caught their recent show at Rics will know these guys are a force to be reckoned with! On the fringes of pop, somewhere on the more eloquent side of rock, that’s where you’ll find the Internalists. One ear is fixed on melody, the other intent on creating powerful, magnetic music that excites and intrigues, with echoes of Split Enz, Silverchair, Something for Kate, Muse and the Killers.

Wrapping up the night will be the kickass DeadStock Circa - This rock till-you-drop five piece swaggers along the fault line between old school rock and primal urge roll. Taking the cream of such influential bands as Oasis, The Stooges and AC/DC, the band have managed to form a self-styled version of rock music, playing honest and passionate music within a live arena and influencing rockers everywhere.
