New pop/rock from Japan. Sounds suspiciously like new pop/rock from everywhere else. Let’s elaborate on that. It’s not that I dislike Dakota Star and their squeaky clean new album, I just… nothing it, going far beyond the limits of simple apathy. If emotions were colours, this would make me feel grey. Maybe it’s fresh and largely new in the Land of the Rising Sun, but in the bubblegum wasteland that we call the Australian pop-charts, we already have hordes of ‘girl rockers’ in the shape of Avril, P!nk, Kelly Clarkson and the Veronicas flooding the airwaves with wretchedly clean power chords and lyrics that alternate between ‘He’s the love of my life’ and ‘I never liked that bastard anyway’. And recording a soulless version of Marc Bolan’s Children Of The Revolution? It’s about as painfully ironic and missing-the-point as Britney Spears singing I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll. Saying this, it still wasn’t as bad as the god-awful botch job Pete Doherty did at Live8… but neither is chemical castration. MITCH ALEXANDER

All of the songs they contribute on are AMAZING ! they have also done anami soundtracks for the vidogame adapation of King of fighters. because the have a female vocalist you compare them to avril, pink ? HUH at least they actualy write there own songs ! they are nothing like that american crap. you obviously have no clue. every ones in title to their opinion, but yours is simply wrong - you didnt even do any reasearch on them. the only thing bad about dakota stars music is that its so hard to find in australia. |
