Hell Yes Hold your horses kids, this isn’t a new Alkaline Trio album but rather a compilation of B-sides, rarities and unreleased tunes. And guess what? Unlike so many releases based on this premise, it doesn’t suck! Having cooled off a passion for the group over recent years due to, in my own opinion, a couple of over-produced and downright mediocre albums, Remains takes the Alkaline Trio story back to a purer time of raw punk-rock with introspective and just plain catchy songs. Kicking off proceedings with Hell Yes from their 7-inch release on Lookout records, quite frankly one of the best songs they ever wrote, through to live favourite Queen Of Pain and a plethora of covers from Hot Water Music, The Damned and Berlin, Remains has a little something for every fan and a few live versions to boot. With 22 tracks in total and with a bonus DVD thrown into the mix, Remains is the ultimate addition to any fans collection or a great starting point for anyone wanting to find out what the fuss is.
