Indie music sales rising thanks to revolution. PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 21 June 2006
Hot new indie MP3 site and web radio www.publicevolution.com has reported strong sales following the launch of their 100% indie dedicated site just 3 weeks ago. The site is a world first in its advanced use of flash and other web technologies and has been decribed as 'myspace and iTunes on steroids'.

Artists benefitting from the sites explosive success include locals Saint Arthur, Elation, The Winnie Coopers, Robert James (ex Gangagang), The Kentinos, The Combovers, Transic, and 8 Ball Aitken... to name a few. Many of the above artists have reportedly also sold ringtones and believe they now have an entirely new fanbase thanks to the site's addictive nature.

More than just a dedicated indie MP3 store, the site features numerous pages of quality content that serve to feature 'fiercly independent' artists with a heavy focus on live video interviews and gig footage. There's heaps more to entice the global public like flash games, indie art gallery, backstage photos, animation, and video... all designed to help the global public discover music and art rather than have it shoved down their throat by mainstream media.

Another koo for artists is that unlike other sites, www.publicrevolution.com works to a quality over quantity mandate and artists now have to be invited to join by submitting a link to their music for consideration... or pay a hefty setup fee of $150. Members pages are maintained by the Public Rev team so no clunky uploads are necessary... a very premium service in this automated world. Good to see someone building a business based on win-win rather than greed for a change. Viva la revolution!

Is good album artwork/packaging a factor in you deciding whether to buy a CD or just a download?
