AKA stereo auto-tune torture

This is a pop release that unearths anger unlike any androgynous eyeliner-wearing band than ever before. Okay, maybe that is due to my own anger problems. However, I’m quite sure that it’s also due to the embarrassingly calculated pop that painfully drips from my speakers – oh beloved stereo, how I pity you. Laura Knight sounds like she owns a record collection comprised of Avril Lavgine, Michelle Branch & Pink. Whereby Lavigne is her vocal inspiration and Branch obviously influences her dispensable guitar progressions. Now and again Stone probably throws on Pink when angry at the world, which by these elementary rhymes is apparently very rare. Sure, Knight sounds like a good-natured wholesome girl, and there’s no doubt she can sing. Nonetheless, this overly polished release is probably the result of someone telling the girl singing covers at the local to write her own material. Well, either that or bible camp.

I doubt that anyone even reads this dribble but if i ever came across this pathetic excuse for a human being who obviously was abused as a child then there would be words... Awesome song and Laura has more talent in her little finger than this idiot would ever have....

sorry dude but i believe david is right on the money with his review. even if this release was in the $1 bin at jb it would still be over priced

What are you going to say to him?

Hmm, I personally love the song-it's a nice song. But I have to agree with David-carefully calculated pop indeed. I think it really depends on what age and taste the listener has.

Well I happen to know Laura. I used to go to the same school as her. She's 17 now, 18 soon. And she thinks that "Sunshine" was crap, and that she's grown up a lot. I haven't seen her in a few months butI think her music's pretty different now.

this reviewer has actually got ears, ive only seen her play live, but i would HAVE to buy a new stereo after putting that cd. it would just be soiled with her whiney shit

laura's music leaves me gobsmacked and my mouth open; stunned. yes, complete shock. who and why would anyone in their right mind sign this mediocre artist to a record label so that this complete filth, that few will call music, can be unleashed for public hearing? has this recent financial crisis caused this much desperation for general purchases that they are now signing anyone and everyone in an attempt to have their music bought and heard? if laura knight's music hits the top charts of australian music in the future then all that we have feared is true; mainstream music can get worse than what it is today. however i do still have a little bit of faith left in the general public so good luck laura, you'll need it!

really enjoyed reading these comments. couldnt agree more with david, her music is usless and over rated... sure she can play the guitar and sing at the same time... hazzah! what a party trick! but seriously, try anything more than this pop shit and she'd be left in the gutter.

laura writes some fantastic heart felt lyrics and sings with such passion and enthusiasm. she is beautiful girl and such an amazing singer and i think she's got so much to offer!

Having seen her play live she is so different from what you get on Sunshine. Suspect she didn't get much say in the EP. I'd go see her again

Ah... she's fifteen... she isn't exactly going to be writing dark and poetic songs at that age. Let the girl grow up a little and then she can prove how good she really is. What she is writing at the moment is relevant to her and her age and her peers. Let's just wait and see what she has to offer.

I go to school with Laura and am in the same music performance class with her. This girl is incredibly talented and I would love to see somebody out-sing her. It sounds like this David is a real world critic with incredibly high, perhaps self-imposed standards. Nothing gets past him apparently; so go on, get him to critique your work. See if you get a sweeter reception. In a school of 2,000 pupils and hundreds of staff, this kid is known first and foremost for her voice. Now, if that's not incredible for an eighteen year old, I don't know what is.

I'm in the same school, same yr level, and I have seen her perform a few times. If I had to give it a score, it would be like.. 4.5 out of 10. it's not bad, but not good either. It's boring, and it's not really appealing to the ears or the heart.
Not worth the time and the money to get this.

There's nothing wrong with carefully calculated/polished pop. It just means her and the production team cares.

Obviously its got it niche. But going around saying that its awful really is irresponsible. You can tell the amazing work put into it.

Wether its a hit or miss it doesn't matter. People don't always realise things. I bet a band like Savage Garden got scathing reviews like this before they made it too.

Sure there's nothing wrong with carefully calculated/polished pop. However I'm quite sure that if you actually utilised your ears you'd find that there is quite a difference in quality between the polished pop of Savage Garden and the by-the-numbers work of Laura Knight.

Oh don't worry Sammy, ears utilized. Your response is typical to expect. Australia is notorious for snubbing its own. They don't take chances the way the U.S will. Thats why most have to go the USA, make a name for themselves there and then get their work distributed back to Australia. And then the people complain why their home grown artists don't really want to come home ...

Yes, fine fine.
