The Zoo - Fri Nov 30 Kicking off proceedings tonight at The Zoo are Brisbane up and comers The Gift Horse. They’ve been featuring pretty heavily on the live scene of late and it shows with the tightness and flawless execution of their set. 2007 has been a big year so far for these guys and 2008 looks ready to be taken over by their style of catchy punk rock with a Lifetime feel. The Blackmarket definitely have a few fans in the audience tonight and it helps having them sing along to their punk rock anthems. The Blackmarket play punk rock with a catchy Rancid feel that catches most of the crowd’s attention and holds it for the entire upbeat set. The Bouncing Souls have been doing what they do for a hell of a long time and they do it oh-so-well. With almost more then 20 releases to date, you just know that you’re going to hear your favourite song tonight. The BMX-riding New Jersey punk natives waste no time in playing awesome track after awesome track. New album The Gold Record features heavily and all the classic tracks fit in perfectly right beside them. It’s good to see some punk rock at The Zoo, people actually being able to stage dive, crowd surf and not get kicked out is kinda refreshing… more good punk shows at The Zoo please. PAUL VOGE
