Black Market Rhythm Co. new in sureshaker catalogue
First, singer/songwriter Christopher Ernst, now his band Black Market Rhythm Co. have also signed with sureshaker music publishing.
Lo-Fi Records, Hi-Fi Radio is the 11 track debut album from the four piece band. It’s full of catchy tunes that broadly fall under the indie pop, roots, rock/reggae roof. The music can be heard at the sureshaker website www.sureshaker.com
New album The album combines a stack of new material and a couple of longer term favourites - Catchy title track Lo-Fi Records, Hi-Fi Radio is, and has been a live favourite for the past 6 months, - and thru recent festival gigs at Queenscliff and Woodford, the band are becoming known for their high energy gigs.
Other big songs for the band at the these festivals were the shimmering pop of You’re So Cool and the rootsy Lucky Star and Cinderella. The first single You Said That You Loved Me has received air play on Triple J and the music video has been shown on Rage.
Black Market Rhythm Co. are playing BIG DAY OUT festival in the Gold Coast on January 20th 2008. The last year they’ve also played Queenscliff Festival in Victoria and Woodford Folk Festival for the second year.
Woodford Festival The band played four steaming Woodford sets, even after the opening gig cancelled - because the roof of the tent had caved in – just prior to the band going on stage. The band held a signing session after the NYE performance and there was a queue out into the rain and back to the next tent, BMRC were one of the top sellers at the festival, selling more than 150 copies of their first album. They were also the closing act and the guys are telling us it will be another 12 months before they get the mud out of their clothes.
Now Black Market Rhythm Co. are ready to kick into 2008 with an official album launch and a tour up and down the east coast over summer.
