(Sound System) The Porkers are ska rockers! Forming on the beach-side town of Newcastle in the mid eighties, The Porkers have evolved into masters of ska. The release of This Is The Porkers album marks their 5th album and a fantastic new edition to your ska collection. For those unfamiliar with The Porkers, they’re a horn-driven ska and ska-core band with traces of surf punk. I know what you’re thinking: “not another ska band,” but wait, they’re so much more. Right from track 1, Bombora, the album is so chock full of samples, twisted lyrics and brilliant rhythms, you’ll be a fan in no time. In truth, The Porkers remind me of the band Too Much Joy, although with far more energy and enthusiasm. Remember, you have to be in the mood for ska – don’t listen to this for relaxation, it will only get the adrenalin pumping. JONATHON HOWARD
