FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Local acoustic folk trio, Yolande & the Sea, have a packed schedule over the coming months.
This Wednesday 12th they open QUT’s Fusion Festival at its Kelvin Grove Campus, starting from 7pm in the Woodward Theatre. Then on April 12th, they are joining The Rogues and The Cairos as support for The Red Paintings, outside Brisbane Square Library. In between these shows they are set to play the Queen St Mall stage as well as the Tabu Nightclub.
Having finished high-school last year, the three good mates are preparing themselves for a busy and exciting 2008, combing a busy gigging schedule with 3 different double degrees. Last year was however, a successful one, with Yolande (vocals and guitar) making the final of the Fretfest Find of the Year Competition as a solo artist, and then with the band, playing at Brisbane’s Riverstage in the Brizband Competition.
Yolande & the Sea have been together since mid-2007, but after losing their guitarist, welcomed a new member in the form of cellist, Haylee Suess. Finally settling as a well and truly cohesive group, they are looking forward to some exciting shows on the horizon.
Busy rehearsing and writing new material not to mention Uni, the band are getting ready to release an EP later in the year. For the moment though, playing around town is just as exciting, as the three friends get to show Brisbane their wares.
