MADELEINE PAIGE LAUNCHES DEBUT EP - ANGELS IN THE ARCHITECTURE www.madeleinepaige.com www.myspace.com/madeleinepaige "... simply stunning.." – Time Off Magazine "... beware – her cheery disposition is contagious" – Rave Magazine Brisbane-based singer/musician Madeleine Paige has long been contributing her golden voice to various artists across the country; from grassroots indie bands to Old Man River and Kate Miller-Heidke. Now, she's excited to announce she's finally stepping out solo and is releasing her debut EP Angels in the Architecture, with an East Coast tour commencing with a special event at The Globe Theatre on Thursday 10th April. Madeleine Paige - "Angels in the Architecture" Tour Thursday, April 10 | The Globe (Brisbane) with Brian Campeau and Pear & the Awkward Orchestra Wednesday, May 21 | The Basement (Sydney) with Sailmaker and Megan Washington Wednesday, May 28 | Manchester Lane (Melbourne) with George Byrne and Megan Washington) Madeleine first began singing lessons so she could outshine the school bully in the Toowoomba Eisteddfod, but soon discovered her uncontrollable passion for singing. Brought up in a musical household, she raided her parents' vinyl collection of the Beatles, Van Morrison, Nina Simone and Ella Fitzgerald. Soon she was singing jazz and performing regularly. After completing a Bachelor of Music, she travelled the world; picking up pieces of inspiration along the way. One day in 2007, after the bus home to Bondi happened to stop that moment too long outside a music shop, she bought her mini guitar (named "de Vito") and began penning sweet ditties about love, loss and life, with her velvety vocals floating effortlessly over the chords. After settling back in her hometown Brisbane, she began performing as a solo artist, with a backing band consisting of bluesy lead guitar and the gorgeous tones of the vibraphone. Since then she has toured to Sydney, picked up a stack of local supports and the buzz has begun. In 2008, she recorded her five track debut solo EP Angels in the Architecture. Each of the five tracks is soothingly sweet which beg to be played over and over. The title is a line from a song off Paul Simon's "Graceland" – her favourite album, which she wanted to give a symbolic nod to on her very first release. Madeleine will be launching the EP in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in April and May. The EP will be available soon digitally and physically at shows and via mail order on her website.
