1. Together At Last: Kitten Party could be described as a ‘one-man Animal Collective’. He loops keyboard sounds and adds effects that sit somewhere between the Grand Canyon and a pop track … anyhow, check him out for yourself this Friday at Browning St Studios, West End. It’s a $5 gig that also features Aquanamis Freedumb and Potato Masta spinning tunes all night…
2. Not Replaced By Robots: Metro Arts’ ‘Downsize’ exhibition continues until Mar 27, featuring works by one of my favourite local luminaries, Sebastian Moody. I haven’t caught the show yet but it’s a group exhibition of 14 artists working in sculpture, installation and the like to explore scale and miniatures. I love miniatures. Metro Arts Galleries, Edward St Brisbane city. Until Mar 27
3. Keep The Regent On The Street: Apparently the touring Waiting For Godot, starring Ian McKellen, won’t come to Brisbane due to a lack of suitable venues. There’s word that if we still had the Regent Theatre it would provide a great stage for Beckett’s play … so the Save The Regent team are asking for more public push and more letters to the Courier Mail. Head to www.debritz.com/str for more information
4. Drink Flamingoes: That new hole-in-the-wall coffee shop behind the Zoo is finally open! The Flamingo Café is hosted by the guys from Main Squeeze and apparently the food is great too. I can’t wait to go to there. Winn St, Fortitude Valley.
5. Superlative Tuesdays: If you haven’t heard already, Taco Tuesday is set to move to The Step Inn as of Mar 23 … good news for everyone who’s been making their own tacos and burritos like a sucker. The line-up is the same: $2 tacos and $4 burritos, flanked by south-of-the-border drinks. The fun starts at 6pm.
