The Long Green Beans Press Release: 1/05/08
Brisbane’s own jammy soul/funk stalwarts, The Long Green Beans, are chuffed at the prospect of releasing there debut album “Beanstalkin” to their hometown audience at The Globe Theatre, Friday May 23rd.
The group intend on playing two sets: the first in four-piece mode, and the second in a rollicking, big band format, complete with horn section and special guests.
Lead guitarist Burl explains: “We’re really anticipating a great show, as it’s a culmination of six years together as a band, and finally producing our debut album, which is a wonderful feeling. By performing two sets on the night we can embrace what we’ve been all about as a core group, with an insight into where we’re headed in the future with horns and additional sounds”.
So, what was the recording process like for the Beans? ‘The new album was recorded over a year ago, during which time I was away travelling for 7 months, so the process from recording to mastering has taken quite a while. After coming back together again, we have been able to take a fresh look at the recording, and we’re all really happy with the overall product!’ says Burl.
The Beans feel more in their element performing live, rather than being confined to the studio walls. ‘Touring is inevitable for us. We’re planning on doing month long stints away, trying to spread the music to rural areas and cities alike’, adds Burl.
Joining them on this most auspicious of evenings, will be Blues legend 8 Ball Aitken, roots mover & shaker Geoff Turnbull and a variety of special guests.
So those in need of a an energetic, soulful, live music fix, get on down to The Globe Theatre on May the 23rd post haste, and see what these Beans are all about.
