(Rhythm Drop)
Who's up for some more politically-conscious surf folk/funk? No, me neither.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume the high-pitched vocals on this album that sound like a less grating Wayne Coyne were done by Fraser Montgomery. Well, if this is the case, kudos to Mr Montgomery, because his shiny screeching in Find A Way was the only thing that saved this album from the 'review it after two songs' pile, a passionate and bouncy antidote to Micka Etheridge's store-bought dull tones. Stuck In Dub is just as painful a situation as it might sound like, as I feel like I'm stuck in the middle of roots festival surrounded by phoney white rastas; enough knitted beanies and tribal dancing to make me denounce pacifism. Ground is almost regained towards the end with rockers like Runner, but with annoyingly upbeat messages about lifting yourself up or slowing down or whathaveyou, it shows that all the good intentions in the world won't save you if you're in a genre that's been done to death.
