ImageTama Starclassic Bubinga Cordia Series

Drums Sets

Tama was first major drum maker to craft all-bubinga drum sets. The rich-grained but difficult-to-work wood had previously seen use only as an attractive drum veneer. While other drum makers followed somewhat later with their own bubinga kits, Tama continues to be the number one and best-known maker of bubinga drums with their Starclassic Bubinga Series and Bubinga Omni-Tune Series.

Tama was also the first drum maker to utilize cordia in the first Artstar kits in 1983, and drum aficionados have long asked for a return of this beautifully-grained wood. Now, Tama has combined its two firsts with the Starclassic Bubinga Cordia series, which represent a beautiful combination of woods. Bubinga is one of the richest sounding, warmest, and most versatile tonewoods ever utilized in drum making, and cordia is, hands-down, one of the finest looking drum woods. A particularly attractive feature is fiscal: the new Starclassic Bubinga Cordia will be the same price as the Starclassic Bubinga Series drums that feature a premium maple outer-ply.

Price TBA.

Drum Sets

Tama's Hyper-Drive configuration is the choice of a growing number of Tama artists. The set-up combines fast response, modern short toms, a powerful Ultra Deep bass drum and traditional-sized snare. The Hyper-Drive configuration provides pure and articulate tom tones, unlimited set-up versatility, complete player visibility and effortless tuning.

Superstar Drums feature birch/basswood shells fitted with Sound Bridge low-mass, high tension lugs and die-cast hoops. The sets have been critically acclaimed by the major drum publications for their combination of professional features, sound and durability with a very affordable price. Superstar Custom sets feature lacquered finishes while Superstar EFX and Superstar standard sets feature a wide variety of covered finishes. Tama Superstar encompasses three different series: Superstar Custom with lacquer finishes, Superstar EFX with Tama Dura-Cover wrapped finishes, and Superstar with Tama original wrapped finishes. All the new Superstar Hyper-Drive sets feature Black Nickel shell hardware.

List price range for the new configurations including stands and hardware ranges from US$1382 (4pc Superstar) to $1879 (6pc Superstar Custom).

ImageTama Warlord The Athenian

Snare Drum

Tama's Warlord Collection of unique and aggressive snare drums has added its fifth member, the Athenian. The new brass Warlord Athenian, like its steel Spartan counterpart, features R.S.E. Resonant Sound Edges for more projection and increased fatness. However, the Athenian sound is more controlled and warmer than the Spartan, which makes the Warlord Athenian the right choice for players who favour the tremendous traditional tones of the great old vintage brass snares. The KBR146C Athenian features a 1mm brass shell with a special plated finish and includes a deluxe hardshell carrying case. The brass Athenian joins the original four members of the Warlord Collection, the Spartan (stainless steel), the Masai (bubinga), the Valkyrie (maple), and the obscenely expensive, but worth every penny, Praetorian (bell brass). All Warlord Collection snare drums feature die-cast hoops, and lugs featuring cut crystals by Swarovski of Austria.

RRP US$1199. Welcome to snare fetishism. For more information, visit their web site at www.tama.com.
