ZILDJIAN K SERIES
Cymbals
Zildjian has introduced two new Crash Ride cymbals in the K Series. The 21 and 22” K Crash Rides feature a “Brilliant Finish” and a medium-thin weight. These new models now become Zildjian’s largest Crash cymbals available and offer an explosive Crash sound.
The 21 and 22” K Zildjian Crash Rides were developed with Zak Starkey who has been using them in his set-ups with The Who and Oasis since 2000. These cymbals help Zak create the “wall of sound” he needs when playing with both bands. While adding a dynamic visual impact, Zildjian’s Brilliant Finish also helps to smooth out the sound and add extra high-end sparkle. The K Zildjian Crash Rides open up quickly and are excellent for shouldering with the stick.
Based on the famed cymbals that Kerope Zildjian made in the 19th Century, the K Zildjian Series has been updated and improved to meet contemporary demands. Extensive hammering and fine lathing creates warmer sounding cymbals with even more responsiveness and versatility. Once thought of as primarily a jazz cymbal, K Zildjians are becoming the favourites of rock and pop drummers as well.

ZILDJIAN CUSTOM HYBRID SERIES
Cymbals
Zildjian has added two new models to the innovative cymbal series designed with one of Japan’s top drummers, Akira Jimbo. 15, 16 and 18” K Custom Hybrid Crashes, 14” K Custom Hybrid HiHats and a 17inch K Custom Hybrid China have been added to the popular series that received the M.I.P.A. award in 2006.
The 14” HiHats capture the same sound as the existing 13” models but with extra volume and more breadth of sound and feature the same “Hybrid Mastersound” hammering on the bottom cymbal. The new 15, 16 and 18” Crashes offer a more complete and traditional array of sizes to choose from and the new 17” China matches perfectly to any existing K Zildjian or K Custom China models. These new models feature the same lathing techniques that give K Custom Hybrid its unique look and sound.
K Custom Hybrid models combine the unlathed, brilliant finish of the K Custom Ride on the inner half with the traditionally finished K Zildjian lathing on the outer half of the cymbal. This results in the possibility of two different sound dynamics depending where the cymbal is played. Additionally, the unlathed section helps to control the wash and sustain, rendering them ideal for recording and live situations.
Another unique feature of the K Custom Hybrid Series is found in the new “Hybrid Mastersound” hammering, which results in reverse Mastersound grooves by hammering into the bottom of the cymbal from the opposite side. This results in increased surface area contact between the top and bottom cymbals, and a warmer chick and wash than normal Mastersound hammering.

ZILDJIAN K LIGHT SERIES
Cymbals
Another recent addition to the Zildjian catelogue is the introduction of new sizes into its popular K Light cymbal series. The 22” K Light Ride, 15” K Light HiHats and 16” K Light HiHats add even more options to the growing number of rock and pop drummers choosing the darker sounds of the K Zildjian cymbal range.
The new 22” K Light Ride comes in a traditional finish and is thin in weight. It features the same smoky sound and excellent stick definition of the existing 24” model but in a smaller more controllable size. The 15” and 16” K Light HiHats offer more volume and lots of wash for a sloshy feel. They feature a traditional finish with a medium-thin weight top cymbal and a medium weight bottom cymbal. The 16” K Light HiHats are the first ever 16” HiHats offered in the K Zildjian range. Both the Ride and the HiHats are versatile enough for almost any style of music.
The 22” K Light Ride is currently being played by Jason Bonham (Led Zeppelin) who employs both the 24” and the 22” K Light Rides in his set up. The K Light Series was first introduced in January 2007 and has been played by artists such as Travis Barker (+44), Ronnie Vannucci (The Killers), Ahmir Thompson (The Roots), Joey Castillo (Queens Of The Stone Age) and many others.

Signature Drumstick
The latest addition to Zildjian’s collection of artist-designed drumsticks. The Antonio Sanchez Signature Drumstick is 16-1/2” long with a 0.550” diameter and is perfect for jazz, funk or fusion.
A long-time Zildjian drumstick player, Antonio has been working on his personal stick with Zildjian for the past few years. The stick features a barrel tip for excellent stick definition and full drum tones, and is finished with Antonio’s Diablo signature in metallic red for extra brilliance. The stick is made from select US Hickory.
Antonio is only the second drummer in the past twenty-plus years to hold the drum chair for the Pat Metheny Group. Pat has also consistently called on Antonio to play in his popular trios, usually reserved for musicians outside of the Group. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Antonio has also played with Chick Corea, Joshua Redman and Michael Brecker, among others.
