Ska Extravaganza #2 at The Coolangatta Hotel PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 26 June 2008

Following the success of the first Ska Extravaganza at The Globe Theatre earlier this year Gold Coast Ska band Foghorn Leghorn are bringing the show toThe Coolangatta Hotel.

The recently renovated room will play host to a night of ska bands with Foghorn Leghorn headlining a supreme lineup of some of the best Ska in NSW/QLD.

Since their formation in March 2007 Foghorn Leghorn have been strong advocates of local live music hosting a number of large  Ska/Punk/Rockabilly shows on the Gold Coast, Brisbane and even an 11 band all ages festival in Toowoomba and have largely gone under the radar of street press publications thus far.

The bands reputation however has forged a stong ska fanbase and allowed the band to play with some of Australia's best and most respected bands culminating with the band's first headlining show at the Gold Coast's premier live music hotspot.

Foghorn Leghorn recently finished recording their debut CD 'The Amazing Adventures Of...' at Serotonin Productions produced by respected Gold Coast engineer Guy Cooper which has become a minor favourite on radio 4ZzZfm.  They remain unsigned and hope to generate a buzz in the Australian scene for Ska and fill the gap left behind by other Aussie Ska bands fading off the map.

Joining Foghorn Leghorn on the lineup are absolute ska legends Blowhard who have been favourites and much respected for the last 20 years.  They will be a major attraction to Gold Coast ska fans.

Suspect 7 are hard working veterans of the scene who feature numerous times in the top 100 songs on 4ZzZfm in Brisbane and regularly play large shows.

Rubix Cuba are touring up from Newcastle and have also been playing tons of shows up and down the east-coast, featuring the only female lead-singer of the lineup and will be a band not to miss while they are up this way.  They may be playing a run of shows through Northern NSW on the way.  Look out for them.

Is good album artwork/packaging a factor in you deciding whether to buy a CD or just a download?
